Summary: “Every life is inexplicable…the essential thing resists telling” 291, The Locked Room, Paul
Auster from The New York Trilogy
As I was following you is a personal project I started during my stay in New York.
I started shooting in a intuitively way, looking for images which could deal with my
feelings, with my sense of displacing, with my memories of an unknown world, as I was
searching my visions as a photographer.
Coming to grips with a shattered reality, I tried to make an excursion into the uncertainties
of urban life, playing with the echo of imaginary worlds, looking for correspondence
between signifiers and signifieds, questioning my visions and my own identity.
I would love to continue this project, collecting more images in the attempt of showing the
world in a way that recognizes the fragility of our constructions, that accepts, and perhaps
welcomes, the discovery of a torn veneer. My subjects accept the failure of order; they
sense their own inability to control the world and yet, they keep trying.
