Summary: MY VALENTINES 21 Years of Portraits from the Family Album by Lucy Hilmer is a limited edition, beautifully produced, self-published photo book about a classic series of B&W portraits of the photographer’s daughter, as she grows up from a 3-day-old infant into 21-year-old woman who’s come of age— always seen in relationship to some abstracted portion of her dad, and a rose. The portraits, originally sent out as the annual, family Valentine postcard, are presented as postcards in the book as well. Of special interest are sections devoted to selected proofs from each year’s photo shoot, as well as backstage color snapshots of the photographer and her family. The book also includes a Photographer’s Statement and 3 original poems by Lucy Hilmer.

Date and place of birth of photographer/s: April 22, 1945 in Washington, D.C.
