Summary: ” In search of a better life and more opportunities, you move away. You leave everything you know behind. Over the ocean to another continent. That’s where you settle.
What do you need so you still understand who you are? How do you model your surroundings and how do you make your new home your own…”
In the nineteen fifties, Dutch photographer Frits Gerritsen photographed a polder in Canada, inhabited with Dutch immigrants. In 2005 and 2006, Andrea again photographed that same polder, while collecting visual material of its former inhabitants: people who recorded their transition to a new and unknown life.
Date and place of birth of photographer/s: July 12 1974
