Summary: In 2004, I wanted to showcase a series of photographs that I took in 2003. I printed and assembled this little book to send out to various people and galleries.
While I received rejection letters, most of the books were never returned despite having included a SASE in the packet.
The following is the statement for the photo project:
Not too long ago I moved out of my run down flat on Natoma Street in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. I was happy to leave that harsh and gritty environment but sad to say goodbye to such an interesting and colorful community. Before I moved, I started photographing the details of my home and immediate surroundings so that I would always remember what made Natoma’s environs special to me. Using my medium format camera, I went about capturing the quiet warmth and hidden beauty marked by humanity in that grimy neighborhood I once called home.
